This is a quick, family-friendly meal that’s easy to prep and fun to customize. Instead of buns, everything goes into one bowl— Ground Beef or cut-up homemade burger patties, fresh veggies, cheese, and sauce. It’s simple to throw together after your shift, and kids love building their own bowls with their favorite toppings, making it both healthy and kid-approved.

Servings: 4

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

For the Salad:

  • 1lb lean ground beef

  • 1 tsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika

  • Salt & Pepper to taste

  • 1 head romaine lettuce, chopped

  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

  • 1/2 cup red onion, thinly sliced

  • 1/2 cup dill pickles, sliced

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar

  • 1 avocado, diced (optional)

For the dressing:

  • 1/2 Mayo

  • 2 tbsp ketchup

  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard

  • 1 tbsp pickle juice

  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika

  • Pinch of salt and pepper

On the Side:

  • Whole grain roll

Instructions:

  1. Cook the beef:

    - Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat

    - Add beef, season with garlic power, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.

    - Cook until browned and crumbled (about 7-8 minutes). Drain excess fat.

  2. Make the dressing:

    - In a small bowl, whisk together mayo, ketchup, mustard, pickle juice, paprika, salt, and pepper until smooth.

  3. Assemble the salad:

    - In a large bowl or meal prep containers, layer romaine, cherry tomatoes, onion, pickles, and avocado.

    - Add the cooked ground beef on top.

    - Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.

  4. Finish & Serve:

    - Drizzle with burger sauce dressing.

Tips for meal prepping:

Keep components separate until serving:

  • Store dressing separately in a small container. Add it just before eating to avoid soggy lettuce.

  • Keep ground beef in its own container. This will allow to reheat before eating or you can enjoy it cold.

  • Slice the avocado just before serving, otherwise it will turn brown.

Planning Ahead:

  • Have classic homemade burgers for an evening meal with a salad on the side, but cook some extra burgers and slice up a few extra vegetables and set it aside to have for lunch the next two days.
